 - Can you get a good meal following the semi-homemade process?

 - Will the old camera do any good in documenting the process?

 

These are your starting ingredients... looks simple... and it is.

Cube 1 - 1 1/2 lbs chicken breast.

Season lightly with some salt, pepper and garlic powder... all to taste.

Want something more?

Use some basic italian seasoning here to start getting it going.

Saute them in a pan that's had some olive oil added and heated just to the "shimmering point".

 

Don't worry about flippin' them or mixing it up too soon.  They'll need to sit and cook on one side for a bit in order to get some crust on one side.

While the chicken's cooking... get some bow-tie pasta down in some boiling water.

Use whatever pasta you like and follow the box directions... but cut the time just a bit short so that the pasta isn't quite aldente... a little firmness is good sense this will continue cooking a bit after it's done in the hot water.

While the pasta's boiling, you can turn your attention back to the chicken.  Flip them over and let cook for another 5 minutes or so.

If you end up a bit off in timing and your pasta is done... don't worry, just drain it and put back in the same pot.  It'll keep it warm without doing too much additional cooking.

Oh yeah, the chicken... it's moving along quite well.

 

Now, if you like smaller pieces, you could have cut them up smaller or when they are sitting here about done, just use a hard spatula to cut things in half.  And if you are a chicken doneness freak, this gives you a chance to make sure all the chicken is done and runningh clear.

Once you are happy with the chicken, dump in a jar of your preferred sauce.

 

The stuff I used was a tomatoe basil that was designed for this type of mixture.... but again, your meal, your tastes... you choose.

Give it a good stir to get things mixed up well.

Then you can add half a bag of frozen broccoli... of course this is optional.  You could also use different vegetables if desired.

Be sure to mix it up and then let simmer for ~ 5 minutes to bring the broccoli up to temp.

Combine your pasta with the chicken and sauce mix and you are ready to go.

 

If the pasta had to sit for a bit, just leave this on low heat and stir to get everything nice and hot again.

And here you go.  I'll admit, this wasn't the best plating... but we were in a hurry.  So don't let this picture fool you, this is some great food fast.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

   

Now we can answer those two questions...

 - Yes, using a jar can get you good results.  It's quick, simple and tastes good.  You just have to be able to stomach the fact that you pay up to $5 for a jar of sauce that you could make for $1.  So, be looking for how to make your own sauce in the future.

 - Yes, the old camera will hold it's own.  The operator just has to remember how to use it... and clean up the plate.
