thumb_cin_biscuit_11When you get the craving for cinnamon rolls, there are other options than the canned variety or making it from scratch.  This one will cure the craving and can be modified in numerous ways.

Let's first start with the filling... just basics here.  Cinnamon, brown sugar and flour.  I gotta go and find the amounts somewhere...

Dump in the flour, cinnamon and brown sugar.

Mx well.

Throw down some flour on top of whatever you got to roll out some dough.

Take 1 can of basic breakfast biscuits... not the flaky layer kind, just the simple one.  Set them all together and smash down to form a single layer of goodness.  Try to square up the edges as best you can without overly thinning the corners.

Spread some butter across the dough.

And then sprinkle generously... leaving one edge uncovered.

Roll it up starting at the opposite end of the uncovered edge and then use your fingers dipped in some water to help seal down the uncovered edge.

Slice up into 6 or so portions and set them in a pan.  Bake according to the instructions on the can of biscuits.

This is how mine looked after the oven.  Not bad... but gotta work on those two end pieces.

Looking good from here.

Even better here.

Now, how can you resist?

Let them cool down some so that you can handle them and serve up warm and fresh.

Want some icing?  Mix up some powdered sugar and water with a teaspoon of vanilla and you are set.

Not bad for an experiment.  I still need to tweak the filling mixture, but the concept is viable.

I'm still in search of an easier and better tasting method for some semi-homemade cinnamon roll type creation.  when I find it, you'll see it here.
