It's not cheating to use the packaged stuff.  Especially when you get good results as I did with this Slow Cooker specific season package for Pulled Pork.  Take it, some basic items and some time in a slow cooker / crockpot and you'll be set for a meal when you all get home.

Ingredients straight from the package list... ketchup, apple cider vinegar, brown sugar, the package and 2-3 lb pork roast.  This roast came tussled up in a net and I cut free and trimmed a bit more of the fat off.

After you get home, pull the roasts out and put on a plater / platter or use a big bowl and shred the meat using two forks or whatever works for you.  Unfortunately I had a mental lapse and didn't pick up the camera again.

Once shredded, place back into the crockpot with all of the sauce still there and mix well

Serve as desired... now wasn't that simple?

Usually we toast some buns and do this as sandwiches.  However, serving it straight up works great as well.

Now, I can't claim that it's authentic and as good as anything else... but it matches up to what I remember pulled pork sandwiches tasting like when I visited some places in South Carolina... which were dang tasty.

I'm curious if you could do some chicken this same way.  The basic seasoning and adders are just making a basic BBQ sauce.  Might even work on some beef pot roasts.  And if you aren't a fan of packaged seasoning, well, just make your own custom sauce and slow cook away... the technique should apply.

Let us know if you experiment and how it turns out.
