I was NOT a fan of oatmeal cookies until I tried this one. The "healthy" stigma that oatmeal cookies is thrown out the door when you can't resist eating 10 of these as they come out of the oven.
First, get your "wet" ingredients... white sugar (1/2 c), brown sugar (1 c), crisco (3/4 c), vanilla (1 tsp), water (1/4 c) and egg (1)
Get your dry ingredients handy... chocolate chips (12 oz bag, or any type of chip you want), old fashioned oatmeal (3 c), flour (1 c), salt (1 tsp), baking soda (1/2 tsp)
Start with the sugars and crisco (I'm using butter flavored, the plain stuff worked fine as well)
Vanilla, water and egg gotta go in there too
Start mixin'
While it's mixing, get the dry stuff together... like the oatmeal
And the flour, salt and baking soda
Give them all a good store to properly mix them up
About the time you've done that, the wet stuff will look like this
Add in about half of the dry and give it a whirl
See, I told you only about half
Dump in the rest (doing this in stages helps prevent the nuclear flour dust clouds)
Mix until well mixed
Scrape down the edges
Add the chips of your choice
Mix by hand (if you use the mixer, the chips are big enough to get "stuck" and will get beaten down some)
Now grab your
Plop out some sphere liked shapes, evenly spaced with about 2 inches in between
Mmmmh, almost good enough to eat raw
They are just sooooo good looking
Ok, last one...
After baking at 350F for 10 - 12 minutes they look like this...
and this...
and this...
and this...
I didn't have two matching pans at the time, so this was a good experiment to see how the dark non-stick compared to the light non-stick. I did't notice any difference in how they cooked up or how long it took.
These are so good, they deserve close-ups
I'll keep it to a minimum for now
When they cool a bit so the cookies are a bit more solid, transfer to wire cooling rack so that you can use the pan again. I had no problems with the pans being a bit warm as I put additional cookie dough down, so don't worry about it and keep on going.
Now for some good mouth watering tempations...
Just look at how rich and moist they look just on the screen
Ok, time for some plate action...
You hungry yet?
how about now?
I know, you probably have left to go start making them...
but if not, some more temptation...
almost done...
Money shot! You just can't resist licking the screen can you? Go ahead, I won't tell.
Well, maybe that was too many pictures... but I was just too excited and had to make sure you got an eyefull... now go and make some of these. Remember... oatmeal cookies are healthy.
