thumb_spaghetti_basic_15.jpg It's hard to beat the basics like Garlic, butter and other spread on some fresh bread...

Ingredients:

1 loaf french bread

4 oz (1/2 container) whipped butter (or any butter you have)

1 clove garlic (or tablespoon of the jar stuff, or couple of good shakes of the dry stuff)

2 tsp oregano (or to taste)

2 tsp parsley flakes (or to taste, use real if you got it)

Making it:

Put butter in bowl and let soften a bit.  You can speed the process by chopping it up some with a fork.  Then mix in garlic, oregano and parsley.  Mix well with a fork.  You'll notice it gets softer as you go.

Slice bread in half lengthwise, place on foil lined pan and spread butter mixture across.

Pop in pre-heated oven (350F) and let go for a couple of minutes (about 7 - 10).  I like to look for the edges to get a bit brown and the butter to be melted and starting to bubble.

Optional:

Throw some cheese on top before it goes in the oven.  I'm thinking some mozzeralla or the standard shredded parmesan would be great.

Show time...

I'm using some whipped butter this time just to try it out... remember, experimenting is good...

Break up the butter some to help it soften...

Mix in your garlic, oregano and parsely...

... and beat it around... It will get softer and easier as you go on...

Now, just spread it on a split open loaf of french bread, put in the oven at 350 and keep an eye on it...

When it looks like the edges are toasting and the butter has completely melted... or it looks like below, take it on out.

Eat straight or serve with something like below...

See, great tasting garlic french bread isn't difficult at all.  You could throw some parmesan or mozzerella cheese on it as well.
