Cereal may be the mainstay of breakfast, but nothing gives you that wake-up kick like some sugar packed cinnamon toast.
Basic ingredients, cinnamon, sugar, butter, bread...
Butter up some bread, use spread, butter, lard, whatever you like...
Now, I like giving my toast a good base of straight sugar first as it gives it a nice crusted surface later on...
And you can go for the rustic approach and sprinkle straight cinnamon over the sugar...
Or, use a shaker with some cinnamon / sugar mix to get a more even distribution... Pop under the broiler on the top rack for x minutes... why x? Because you had better watch 'em...
I like to pull them just as the edges are getting some crisp and showing signs of burning, plus I'm watching for the sugar to bubble so that it forms a nice crust...
The finished product...
A little closer...
... and closer...
... watch out, you'll get sugar on your nose if you get much closer...
This was with normal bread, for a slightly different take, pick up some of that thick sliced bread (Texas Toast) and do the same. The extra bread along with a really good sugar crust is just a perfect combination of crunch and softness. Of course, these were pretty darn good also.
